Why Donald Trump’s Upcoming Fake News Award Show Is Actually Illegal

Will The Fake news awards show being canceled?

Unfortunately for those hoping to see Donald Trump trash talk and hand out awards to all the networks that have criticized him during his presidency, there might be an obstacle in the way that prevents it from happening. Of course no one knows if Trump will go through with it anyway, especially since he made the announcement on his twitter account in a joking manner, but it might actually be illegal if he does!

“WARNING to White House staff: the president may be exempt from the rules at 5 CFR § 2635.701 et seq. on misuse of position BUT YOU ARE NOT,” Norm Eisen, who served as Barack Obama’s ethics Czar during his presidency tweeted in respond to Trump’s tweet about the award show, “If you help @potus with the below, you risk violating §§ 702, 704 & 705 forbidding use of gov time & $$$ to harm some media & aid others.”

With that being said, Donald Trump can still do the award show, which would presumably take place either on Twitter or on Fox News Channel, but his staffers can’t help him in any way.  Furthermore, there can’t be any awards passed out either due to the fact that funds being used for that purpose is also in violation of the rules as well, which means that there might be no trophies, certificates, hand outs, ribbons or anything else of that nature.

As for punishments for such a crime, there really isn’t anything concrete to suggest that anyone could lose their job or if the government will actually take time to do an investigation for those responsible. It is worth noting that several so called, policy experts are claiming that it could end up landing white house staffers in hot water, but many of them fail to expand beyond that.

What are your thoughts? Should people lose their jobs if they participate in the award show? If not, what do you think should happen to those in violation of the law?  Let us know in the comments below!
