Munroe Bergdorf made history this year by becoming the first transgender model to sign a deal with Loreal and became the face of their true match diversity campaign. Unfortunately for Bergdorf, she was fired after making going on a racist rant on Facebook and calling all white people racist.
“Because most of ya’ll don’t even realize or refuse to acknowledge that your existence, privilege and success as a race is built on the backs, blood and death of people of colour,” Bergdorf said during the rant, “Your entire existence is drenched in racism. From micro-aggression to terrorism, you guys built the blueprint for this s***,”
The model ultimately ended up deleting the posts after they realized that they were in poor taste, but Bergdorf was still fired as a representative for the company and Loreal later released a statement on the matter, which pretty much condemned the models actions.
“L’Oréal supports diversity and tolerance towards all people irrespective of their race, background, gender and religion,” a L’Oréal Paris UK spokesperson told The Sun. “The L’Oréal Paris True Match campaign is a representation of these values and we are proud of the diversity of the Ambassadors who represent this campaign.”
“We believe that the recent comments by Munroe Bergdorf are at odds with those values,” The spokesperson continued,” and as such we have taken the decision to end the partnership with her,”
